Going strong for over three decades, the Moonlight Modelers Club of Phoenix has more than forty active members throughout the Valley of the Sun. Its members build automotive model cars of various types and styles, ranging from replica stock to wild customs, from street rods to light commercial vehicles, from box stock to scratchbuilt creations, from drag race replicas to IndyCars and Nascars, from muscle cars to fire engines, from beaters to big rigs; you name, somebody in the club builds it!
The Moonlight Modelers Club was born in 1979 when three Phoenix modelers were discussing their shared passion over the counter at a local hobby shop where one worked. The first informal get togethers quickly evolved into the club we know today and the monthly meetings have continued without interruption for 30 years. By the way, those three founders are still members!
Over the years, the Moonlight Modelers Club has been active in growing the hobby by helping and staffing the famous Copperstate Model Car Championship, Goodguys Rod and Custom Association's Southwest Nationals Model Car and Pedal Car Show, and the Desert Scale Classic.
The Moonlight Modelers Club focuses on friendship and sharing of ideas, techniques, parts, tools, skills, and resources. All areas of interest are welcomed and encouraged. Each meeting features a display of members' in-progress projects and a themed contest (sometimes two!) with a coveted "best" award voted by the members.
Meetings are held monthly at rotating locations (homes of members) and guests are welcome to visit. Membership is open to builders, collectors, and enthusiasts with an interest in being involved in the Phoenix automotive model scene. If you're interested in car and truck modeling, join the Moonlight Modelers and help make its next thirty years even more exciting!
